The Minnesota Timberwolves and Phoenix Suns are in pursuit of Chicago Bulls’ superstar Jimmy Butler in a potential blockbuster trade.

After all the Paul George trade talks from this weekend, the next superstar that seems to be in heavy demand is the Chicago Bulls’ Jimmy Butler. The Bulls’ forward is in the middle of a five-year contract, with two years left, but Chicago is worried about being in a situation similar to Indiana is in with Paul George.

There were potential reports that Butler would be traded to the Boston Celtics, but Boston instead chose to pursue a deal with the 76ers in the NBA Draft to move down. Now it’s being reported by Adrian Wojnarowski that the Minnesota Timberwolves are in talks to try and trade for the Bulls’ star.

The connection between Butler and the Minnesota Timberwolves make sense. The head coach for the T’Wolves happens to be Tom Thibodeau, who was the Bulls’ coach when Butler was drafted and when he developed into a star.

The report was then followed up with the Phoenix Suns also showing interest in Butler.

Here’s the thing, these are teams with lots of young assets and high draft picks. Hence, Chicago will be able to get better in the long-term if they were able to part ways with Jimmy Butler.

Butler would be an interesting fit in Minnesota, who already have Zach LaVine and Andrew Wiggins at the wing positions. Butler would immediately bump one of the two out of their starting roles.

In Phoenix there’s Devin Booker, who’s starting to turn into a potential superstar. Butler would join Eric Bledsoe and Booker and a roster full of young players. Either way, it looks like the Chicago Bulls’ star is going to be traded sometime soon.

The NBA season might have ended, but the offseason is in full swing, with trade rumors flying on top players.
