For everyone upset that a part-time WWE Superstar was on the cover of the last video game, you should be happy with the pick this time around.

Move over Brock Lesnar. It’s time for the King Slayer to grab the spotlight for WWE 2K18.

The reveal of the cover athlete for the WWE’s annual video game is always a point of interest for wrestling fans and gamers, and the WWE has chosen to go about it in a number of ways over the past few years. This time around, the Twitter feed of a media outlet that has vastly increased its coverage of sports entertainment was deemed the proper channel.

Thus, ESPN’s SportsCenter got to break the news this morning:

It’s the first appearance on the cover of a WWE 2K game for Seth Rollins, and a well deserved honor as he’s battled back from injury several times over the past few years and proven equally adept at holding down a top spot as either a heel or face.

On top of that, Rollins is the first active regular main event wrestler to be named the cover athlete in several years. Brock Lesnar was the pick last year even though he wrestles a limited schedule, and Stone Cold Steve Austin was on the packaging of WWE 2K16. You have to go back another year to John Cena to find a performer who was on TV weekly at the time.
