Daniel Bryan has been wanting to return to the ring for a long time, and may have a time and opponent in mind for some crazy dream match scenario.

It’s going to take some serious doing on both sides for this to happen, but wrestling fans now officially have the smallest sliver of hope possible for a match between Cody Rhodes and Daniel Bryan for the Ring of Honor World title in the distant future.

After Cody defeated Christopher Daniels at Best in the World on Friday night to win his first world title of his career, fans around the world took to social media to congratulate the new champ. One exception came in the form of Bryan, who took a different approach with his tweet.

Bryan did some serious math, and serious dreaming in the process, by telling Cody if he were to hold the title for 462 days until Sept. 28, 2018, then a dream showdown could be at the end of the tunnel. Obviously easier said than done, but wrestling fans now can go nuts for the next year and a quarter.

Then, to really upset all of his Twitter followers, Bryan tweeted a small little disclaimer, and admitted to trolling his fans.

Bryan long been rumored to try and return to the ring when his WWE contract is up, which looks to be sometime around that ominous date in late 2018, and admitted in an interview that he was working on a comeback.

Fans would obviously love to see Cody, who is on an absolute tear on the independent scene since leaving WWE, battle with the former WWE champion, and have themselves a dream match for world title gold that they didn’t have the chance to see on the bigger stage.

Who cares how impossible it may be, how far away the date is, or if it was a troll? Let’s make this match happen.
