More competitors for the WWE Mae Young Classic were announced on Friday, including Japanese superstar Kairi Hojo.

Competitors continue to be announced for the inaugural WWE Mae Young Classic this summer, and while there have been some impressive names added to the fold to get excited about, international wrestling fans were really waiting on one name and one name only — Kairi Hojo from Japan.

Well the wait to hear her name officially announced as one of the participants is over. As a matter of fact, not only did WWE announce Hojo officially as one of the participants, she actually announced the news herself in her home country during a WWE live event this morning.

Inside a venue such as Sumo Hall was the perfect setting for Hojo to announced the news that not only will she be participating in the Mae Young Classic, but she’ll be joining the NXT roster in Florida as well.

What’s also of note here is the expected name change. Few international and independent stars are able to keep the names they currently use, and Hojo is not one of them. However, the change really isn’t all that drastic, as she will now be known as Kairi Sane.

Whatever this talented young woman’s name is, it really doesn’t matter in the end because she is just that — talented. The five-year veteran of the wrestling business has built up quite the reputation for herself in the Japanese Stardom promotion, and people knew it was only a matter of time before Triple H and NXT came calling. That time is now, and wrestling fans are in for a treat.

Also announced for the field on Friday, along with Sane, were Dakota Kai, Piper Niven and Bianca Belair. The first-ever WWE Mae young Classic will debut on the WWE Network August 28.
