Why the White Sox should do it: Quintana is the last big trade chip the Chicago White Sox have as a part of their massive rebuild they are undertaking. The White Sox have a ton of young pitching coming in Lucas Giolito, Reynaldo Perez and Carson Fulmer. They have top prospect Yoan Moncada and added fellow Cuban Luis Robert.

The move of Quintana would open a spot for one of those young arms. In Perez, they get another young arm to build with along with a potential starting outfielder in Tucker, third baseman in Moran and a catcher in Stubbs. Moran could even come up this season if they move Todd Frazier, even with the year Matt Davidson is having. They are rotating Davidson, Frazier and Jose Abreu between first, third and DH they can certainly do that to get a look at Moran.

Why the Astros should do it: Flags fly forever. This is a franchise that has yet to win a World Series in their history and has only made it once. They are the best team in baseball this season and the extra arm to group with Dallas Keuchel and Lance McCullers Jr. When healthy, this rotation could be a real dominant force in the playoffs.

The Astros have an excellent offense and an effective bullpen. They may just be a rotation arm short for becoming a champion and Quintana represents that. They gained extra picks this year from the Cardinals hacking scandal, so they’ll still have a strong farm system, even with the collateral they move here.
