Rangers Get
OF Jay Bruce
Mets Get
RHP Connor Sadzeck

Why the Rangers should do it: The Texas Rangers are still in the mix for the Wild Card. Even though they have dealt with injuries up and down the roster they are right there. Cole Hamels is back and if he can get himself together, along with Yu Darvish it’s a nice top of the rotation. Part of their issues is their bats haven’t produced. Joey Gallo has a lot of homers but is hitting under .200. So is Mike Napoli. Roughned Odor has scuffled and Adrian Beltre has missed some time injured.

Enter Bruce, who can play right field, The 30 year-old is a Texas native and gives them some serious run production in that order. They can move Nomar Mazara to left field and lengthen their order.

Why the Mets should do it: It’s not going to happen for the Mets this year. Too many injuries everywhere on the diamond. They have a lot of expiring contracts and it’s time to flip some of those into assets moving forward. In Sadzeck, they get a power right-handed arm. If he doesn’t become a starter, you can always use hard throwers out of the bullpen.

The Mets pitching depth at the upper levels needs to be rebuilt and Sadzeck can be a part of that. Sadzeck sits close to 100 MPH with his fastball and has over a strikeout per inning in the minors so far. He can be a piece for the future.
