NBA Free Agency rumors: Andre Iguodala cancels remaining meetings
After NBA Free Agency began, Andre Iguodala met with San Antonio, Houston and Sacramento. Now, he’s canceled all of his remaining meetings.
Andre Iguodala is one of the key free agents who hasn’t signed with a team yet. It’s been a little over 15 hours since NBA Free Agency began and Iguodala has taken meetings with various teams.
From the start, Iguodala has been focused on getting a large contract, heading into his age-34 season. The Finals MVP from 2015 canceled all of his meetings with the Warriors and reportedly has met with other contenders in the Western Conference.
First up was the San Antonio Spurs, who Iguodala met up with right after midnight on Saturday. That would be great fit for Iguodala, who can continue to be the sixth man off the bench and back up Kawhi Leonard.
After that, the free agent met with the Sacramento Kings, who could probably offer him the most money in a contract. Clearly they won’t win as many games as the Warriors or Spurs, but it would keep him in Northern California close to home and give him a huge payday.
Last, Iguodala met up with the Houston Rockets on Saturday morning. Per ESPN’s Marc J. Spears, the meeting went well and a contract offer was made to Iguodala.
Immediately after the meeting with Houston concluded, Iguodala canceled the rest of his meetings for the weekend and may be close to making his decision, per Yahoo Sports’ Shams Charania.
USA Today’s Sam Amick adds that the Warriors believe that it means that Iguodala could be coming Golden State’s way after meeting with these other teams.
