The Golden State Warriors are off to a busy start, now signing Shaun Livingston to a three-year contract worth $24 million.

The Warriors have a lot of free agents that they need to sign in order to fill out the roster around their core four. We all know that Stephen Curry will sign for the 5-year, $200 million supermax contract. Kevin Durant might take another few days, but he will sign for a max contract as well.

It was really the role players that the Warriors needed to go out and re-sign. Andre Iguodala decided to meet with other teams, but Shaun Livingston wanted to stay with Golden State by taking a hometown discount.

Per ESPN’s Chris Haynes, the Warriors will re-sign Livingston, their back-up point guard.

The deal that Livingston will sign is for 3-years, $24 million. There weren’t any reported suitors for the Warriors’ backup point guard and it didn’t take long for Golden State to bring him back.

Livingston was great for Golden State last season. He was often on the baseline, posting up a smaller point guard and hitting over them. There was some thought he would take more money from another team because he’s still young and can go chase a final contract in his youth.

Props to Livingston for taking less money than he probably could have gotten on the open market to stay home with Golden State. The Warriors will now turn their attention to Iguodala, who’s still looking to get paid his fair share.

Durant will also not sign his contract in the coming days until all of the other free agents for the Warriors get their deals. That’s smart, because it’ll give the Warriors more room to spend money on impending free agents.

For now, Livingston will be a Warrior for another three years.
