Former NFL running back DeAngelo Williams made his pro wrestling debut on Sunday. Did it go well? No, no it did not and here is some video proof of that.

It can be hard to find a second career post-football. Some former NFL players get into coaching. Others view themselves as elite television analysts. Then there are guys like former Carolina Panthers and Pittsburgh Steelers running back DeAngelo Williams.

Williams played 11 NFL seasons between Carolina and Pittsburgh, rushing for 8,096 yards and 61 touchdowns over his strong NFL career. Though he never won a Super Bowl, he as a Pro Bowler back in 2009 with the Panthers.

Since he’s not winning a Lombardi Trophy anytime soon since entering retirement, Williams has begun his second career as…a professional wrestler? Yes, Williams made his debut in the ring on Sunday for Impact Wrestling’s Slammiversary XV and it went how you thought it would: terribly.

Williams tries to drive a guy through a table after jumping off the top rope. While Williams got a ton of air behind that leap, he certainly missed his target and over shot the table. It’s cool though, as he did break his fall with his face on the mat. Ouch!

It’s not like Williams hates contact, as he did play running back in the NFL for 11 years. He may have the passion to be the best pro wrestler of any human being alive, but he needs work to get his pile-driving dudes through tables game in order. Frankly, it looked like an episode of when backyard wrestling goes totally wrong.

In essence, what that laughable leap did was put a nail in the coffin of Williams’ NFL career. If a team wants to know where Williams’ head is at, he’s driving it into the mat of a wrestling ring near you. Stick to real sports, DeAngelo.
