After his latest run-in with the law, Tiger Woods is finally getting help.

According to his official Twitter account, Tiger Woods is receiving help for his apparent drug problem. The former world No. 1 golfer’s career has gone downhill due to injuries and addiction since his affair scandal in 2009.

Woods suffered his latest run-in with the law on May 29. The golfer was arrested for DUI after falling asleep while behind the wheel. Woods has publicly admitted however that it was prescription drugs that caused the drowsiness, not alcohol Although he has not been convicted, Woods’ court date is set for July 5.

The golf world took a deep breath on Tuesday while reading Woods’ tweet, relieved that he is finally getting help. The one time golden boy of golf has seen his career shift from the greatest of all time to what was or could have been. Scandals, injuries and addiction have all factored into what is widely regarded as the most tragic and drastic collapse of a professional athlete ever.

His recurring back problems have kept him out of nearly every tournament since the problem first arose. The 14-time major title winner has not won a tournament since capturing a much needed title at 2013’s WGC Bridgestone Invitational. Nor has he participated in a tournament since February. Even then, one could argue he hardly participated. Woods pulled out of the competition in the first round because, well, you guessed it: back issues.

Tiger’s story has become quite tragic. Despite your feelings about his affair scandal, no one should have to endure this magnitude of pain. He’s pulled out of countless amounts of tournaments and hardly looks like a professional anymore, let alone his old self. However, Tiger looks to be finally heading down the right path and getting help.
