The LSU Tigers enter their first full season under head coach Ed Orgeron and have high hopes, but what will their depth chart look like in 2017?

For the past few seasons, we’ve come to expect the same things from the LSU Tigers. Able to compete with any team in the SEC and college football, they also have their limitations. Despite talent at running back — especially of late — poor quarterback play has limited the effectiveness of the offense overall. What’s more, that’s squandered what have been elite defensive efforts.

These are the narratives that head coach Ed Orgeron will look to change. Taking over for Les Miles last season, this will be Coach O’s first full campaign at the helm. Coming in to help him do that is a new offensive coordinator, Matt Canada, who promises big improvements. That will be huge for this team in the 2017 season.

Heading into 2017, however, LSU also has plenty of question marks amidst that new hope. This is a team that lost tremendous talent and star-power to the NFL. Indicative of that is running back Leonard Fournette and safety Jamal Adams being taken No. 4 and 6, respectively, in the 2017 NFL Draft. Among others, replacing those guys will be a focal point of this Tigers team this year.

Clearly this is a team that has plenty of questions, but also promise, coming into a new season. Many have them pegged as a potential title contender, but that remains to be seen considering that several players still need to prove themselves. In that light, let’s take a look at these players and the LSU projected depth chart for the 2017 season.
