Report: Atlanta Hawks facing lawsuit from former security manager

The Atlanta Hawks are facing a lawsuit filed against them from a former security manager for the team.

A former security manager for the Atlanta Hawks, Sam Hayes, has filed a lawsuit against his former employer. . It was reported by TMZ Sports that Hayes is accusing the Hawks of treating African American celebrities very differently than caucasian ones.

Hayes explained how he noticed the difference between the way celebrities such as Drake and Future were treated, as opposed to celebrities like Bon Jovi. Drake and Future were also denied their requests to bypass metal detectors at the arena, in addition to African American celebrities such as Kanye West, Migos, and 2Chainz.

Meanwhile, caucasian celebrities such as Amy Schumer and Adele were able to have that same request approved. Hayes stated that he spoke to his managers about the discrimination and concerns he had toward these recurring instances, but nothing came of it. Hayes believes he was terminated from his position for bringing these issues and concerns to his managers’ eyes.

The team spoke out about the accusations and denied Hayes’ remarks. A Hawks representative stated, “He was terminated for poor performance and his claims are baseless. We will defend vigorously.” These are serious allegations being made against the organization, and could affect many people if they are deemed to be true.

Whether Hayes is successful with his lawsuit or not, it’s easy to see that his short time with the team was clearly full of issues on both sides. There has not been any new information on the status of the lawsuit since the news broke out earlier on Thursday, and more information on the lawsuit will be passed along as the process continues to take its course.
