French Guiana qualified for their first Gold Cup after finishing in the top four of the Caribbean Cup. Les Yana Dòkòs open the tournament against Canada on July 7.

Despite coming from a small island in the Caribbean, 12 of 23 players French Guiana’s roster play in France. However, Ludovic Baal and Sloan Privat are the only members of French Guiana’s team playing in Ligue 1. Baal currently plays for Rennes as a left-back. Guingamp striker Privat will be the focal point of the French Guiana attack.

Despite previously winning the Gold Cup, Canada have failed to get out of the group stage of the past three tournaments. Octavio Zambrano decided to bring an inexperienced squad to the Gold Cup. Twelve members of the Canadian team have fewer than 10 caps. Canada will rely on Cardiff City’s Junior Hoilett and Burnley’s Scott Arfield to provide in the midfield to provide service to Tosaint Ricketts.
