Report: Celtics not interested in trading Jae Crowder

The latest reports indicate that the Boston Celtics have no intention of trading Jae Crowder despite a crowded roster in Boston.

Avery Bradley was the odd man out in clearing cap space for Gordon Hayward. It appears now that Jae Crowder will stick in Boston for the long-term.

The Boston Celtics have had a pretty busy offseason to this point. After signing Gordon Hayward to a max contract. To make room for Hayward, the Celtics had to move either Bradley, Jae Crowder, or Marcus Smart. The latest report indicates that Crowder appears to be safe in Boston as a trade is now extremely unlikely.

Adam Himmelsbach of the Boston Globe has reported that the Celtics have no intention of dealing Crowder at this point.

Himmelsbach continued a flurry of tweets about the remaining offseason moves for the Celtics. He also adds that Boston plans to bring Guerschon Yabusele to the active roster this season. Yabusele, the No. 16 overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, spent the past year overseas. Yabusele would give the Celtics yet another 6-foot-8 stretch-four player to work with.

Himmelsbach also adds that there are no pressing deals on the table at this time. The Celtics still have the mid-level exception to use at their disposal. After dealing Avery Bradley, it appears the C’s could target a guard to fill in those minutes. Marcus Smart, Jaylen Brown, or new man Gordon Hayward will likely get extended playing at the shooting guard position in Brad Stevens positionless basketball.

After a 53-win season and the first seed in the East, the Celtics continue to improve the roster in any way possible. The move to retain Jae Crowder seems to be a wise one given his contract status. Crowder, 27, is under contract for three more years and will make a total of $6.79 million in the upcoming season.
