Tyreke Evans has signed a one-year deal worth $3.3 million. Evans appears to be the final piece for Memphis as they round out their roster.
Tyreke Evans is coming home. After playing at the University of Memphis, Tyreke Evans has signed a one-year deal to return to the city of Memphis. His deal with the Grizzlies is worth $3.3 million. After spending this past year in New Orleans and Sacramento, Evans looks to find a home with the Grizzlies.
Memphis beat writer Geoff Caulkins was the first to report the news:
Tyreke Evans has agreed to terms with the Grizzlies. He's retuning to Memphis. Story to come.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski later reported the details of the one-year agreement. Evans, a 6-foot-6 wing player has had mild success in the NBA. As a former No. 4 overall pick by the Sacramento Kings, Evans won Rookie of the Year in 2010. His 20.1 points per game from his rookie year have rapidly declined ever since and has not been the same player for whatever reason. Evans, 27, averaged 10.3 points, 3.1 assists, and 3.4 rebounds per game during the 2016-2017 NBA season.
Evans has suffered through injuries as of late, only playing 40 games a year ago. The plus side is while Evans’ stats have declined, he has improved as a shooter. Evans made 36.9 percent of his 3-point shots the past two season. Memphis will use their bi-annual exception worth $3.3 million to complete the deal. Evans figures to get playing time at small forward along with Chandler Parsons.

The Grizzlies have been aggressive this offseason adding another former Kings player Ben McLemore loading up on former Kings seems to be an odd strategy but kudos to Memphis for trying to improve. Zach Randolph and Vince Carter have already departed this offseason. Now Tony Allen and JaMychal Green sit out in free agency and could be unlikely candidates to return to the team.
