4. The Coaching Gene

Miles should be just fine doing television, as long as he can avoid rambling endlessly as often as possible. But he definitely has the personality for it, and at 63 years old it could be a nice, low-stress situation to stay in until further notice.

Miles played for and had his first coaching job at Michigan under Bo Schembechler, who served as Wolverines’ head coach until he was 60 years old. He had taken on the role of athletic director at Michigan in 1988, though, so that likely explains Schembechler retiring as head coach the following year at a younger age than Miles is now.

There are no indications Miles dealing with any major health issues, which has to be a concern attached to any older coach. He is an old-school coach for sure, but it terms of ability to physically do the job here are no apparent issues. Maybe eating grass on occasion has something to do with Miles’ good health?

All kidding aside, Miles fits the idea of “once a coach, always a coach.” It’s hard to see him staying out more than a year if the right opportunity is out there, and it’s easy to see Ole Miss being that perfect job.
