Broncos rumors: Trevor Siemian getting first-team reps
By Jason Parker
The Denver Broncos are getting ready to kick off training camp for the 2017 season and it appears the team has a leader in the race for starting quarterback.
Last season, the Denver Broncos had to not only break in a first year quarterback for the starting spot, but also break in a rookie as his backup. The man under center for most of the season was Trevor Siemian, who through for over 3400 yards and 18 touchdowns while taking over for the retired Peyton Manning and the way overpaid Brock Osweiler, who left in free agency.
Siemian started 14 games in his second NFL season while Lynch, a rookie out of Memphis who the team traded up in 2016 to pick when it was learned that some others wanted him, finished off the year with two starts to get some learning.
As it turns out, the order is still the same in the Broncos’ locker room – at least heading into the start of training camp. ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that Siemian will be the main man when things kickoff Thursday:
It is interesting to note that Lynch is also going to get some reps with the ones – meaning the coaching staff isn’t entirely sold that Siemian is the main man despite being responsible for leading the team to a winning record last year coming off a Super Bowl title the season before.

The real wildcard in all of this? What will the team do with Chad Kelly? That’s right, the man who slept his way through much of the 2017 NFL Draft only to be picked last overall by the Broncos will start the year on the non football injury list as he recovers from ACL surgery that ended his 2016 season at Ole Miss early. If he can come back and neither Siemian or Lynch has run away with the starting spot, could Jim’s nephew come in?
