5 more songs Kyrie Irving can troll LeBron James with
5. “Wide Open Spaces” by The Dixie Chicks
This is a suggestion by Ian Levy. If you don’t like it, yell at him.
However, I like it because it makes a ton of sense. On the surface, it sounds like Kyrie is just saying, “I need to be open from LeBron.” But that’s too simple. This song is far deeper than that.
Look at two of the first three lyrics in the song.
"“Who’s never left home, who’s never struck out To find a dream and a life of their own”"
This is exactly what Kyrie is doing. He’s leaving the only NBA home he’s ever known in order to strike out because he wants his own dream and his own life.
The chorus is even more perfect.
"“She needs wide open spaces Room to make her big mistakes She needs new faces She knows the high stakes”"
It’s like the Dixie Chicks saw eight years into the future when they wrote this song. They knew that Kyrie was going to request the ballsiest trade in NBA history in 2017 and penned the perfect song for the occasion. Every time you listen to this song you will now think of Kyrie. You’re welcome.
Kyrie jamming to “Wide Open Spaces” wouldn’t be a shot at LeBron. It would be an audio book of his offseason autobiography.
