6. Chicago Bulls

For starters, any team lucky enough to land Michael Jordan on their roster and hold onto him through his prime deserves to be on this list immediately. Even aside from that, there’s plenty of luck involved when it comes to the Chicago Bulls and their success over the last 25 years.

Obviously drafting Jordan was a huge move in Bulls history, and they won six NBA Finals out of the situation, so that right there could be considered luck for literally winning the basketball lottery. Add in the talent the Bulls surrounded Jordan with, especially Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman and Horace Grant, and it’s almost unfair at that point.

Let’s not stop there on the Bulls train, though. Fast-forward to 2008, where the Bulls had a 1.8 percent chance at landing the number one pick in that year’s NBA Draft after a 33-49 regular season. They had nine teams with worse records ahead of them, and didn’t have any chance at getting the top pick if you asked anybody the day before the 2008 Draft Lottery.

However, in typical lucky Bulls fashion, the team pulled it off, won the Derrick Rose sweepstakes, and advanced to seven straight postseasons with Rose at the helm of their lineup. Rose took home an MVP trophy in the 2010-2011 season, and helped the team advance to the Eastern Conference Finals in the same season.

Things fell apart when Rose went through a ton of injury problems, but the fact that he was even on the team in the same city he grew up in was a sheer stroke of luck, and earns them a high spot on this list.
