The Heisman Trophy is the most-coveted award in college football, but when does the presentation ceremony take place this year?

The Heisman Trophy is awarded to the top player in college football, and that has been the case since Jay Berwanger won the award back in 1935. Since then, the award has been the top individual award given out at the end of the college football season, and the race for the coveted trophy is always an exciting one. Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson took home the award last season, as he was a dominant figure in college football the entire year.

In 2017, the award will once again be given out at the Marriott Marquis Hotel, inside Times Square, New York City. The award used to be given out at the Downtown Atheltic Club, but it was damaged during the attacks of September 11. This marks the 83rd year the award will be given out, and there is once again an incredible group of college football players who could win the award.

The award will be given out the weekend after Championship Weekend, which this year falls on December 2, 2017. The Heisman will be given out on Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017, with the finalists being announced the Monday before, Dec. 4. ESPN will televise the event and has done so since they got the rights to do so back in 1994.

Two finalist from last year’s award presentation return in 2017, including the winner, Lamar Jackson, In addition to Jackson, Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield also returns and is an early candidate to unseat Jackson for the award. There are also star running backs like Saquon Barkley from Penn State and Derrius Guice from LSU to keep an eye on.

If Lamar Jackson can somehow beat the field once again in 2017, he will become only the second player to ever win the award twice. The first was Archie Griffin, over 40 years ago, so that tells you what kind of accomplishment that would be. He has a tough road ahead of him, but if he can score 50-plus touchdowns again this season, he should be the favorite to win it all.
