Pete Rose won’t be honored at Phillies Wall of Fame Ceremony after recent allegations.

Baseball’s hit king, Pete Rose, was scheduled to take part in the Philadelphia Phillies Alumni Weekend festivities, but due to recent allegations Rose has decided to not take part.

According to a report from ESPN’s Outside the Lines, a sworn statement from an unidentified woman alleges that she and Rose had sexual relations before she turned 16 which is the legal age of consent in the state of Ohio.

Rose did acknowledge he had a sexual relationship with the woman in court documents, but that by his knowledge she was 16 when it started. There have been conflicting statements from both parties. Jane Doe as referred to in the court documents claims that they also had sex outside the state of Ohio, while Rose says that their relationship was confined to Ohio.

Martin Garbus, Rose’s attorney told Outside the Lines that he doesn’t blame the Phillies, but says that the unidentified woman’s statement is unfair, and that she lied.

Back in 2016, Rose filed a defamation suit against John Dowd after comments Dowd made in a radio interview in 2015. Dowd claimed that he learned from a former associate of Rose that Rose committed statutory rape of 12-14 year olds at spring training in Florida over 25 years ago.

In Dowd’s motion containing the statement of Jane Doe he asked that Rose be compelled to answer questions pertaining to whether he had sex with other minors. Rose’s objected to several questions due to his right to privacy.

Rose is still banned from baseball, but was allowed to participate in All-Star festivities back in 2015 when the Midsummer Classic was held in Cincinnati. Regardless of the fact that the accusations are well beyond Ohio’s statue of limitations it doesn’t bode well for any future bid to gain reinstatement back into the good graces of Major League Baseball.
