Arizona Diamondbacks slugger Paul Goldschmidt hit three separate home runs including the game-winner in a 10-8 win over the Cubs.

Sometimes it’s your day and then sometimes it really is your day. As the Arizona Diamondbacks and Chicago Cubs suffered through three different rain delays today, Paul Goldschmidt put on a show. The Diamondbacks first baseman went yard not once, not twice, but three separate times to lead his team to a 10-8 win over the Cubs.

Not to mention, his third home run was the go-ahead shot in the top of the ninth inning.

Take a bow, Paul Goldschmidt.

The best part is that each home run came after each rain delay. The fans might not have been happy sitting through the rain, but at least they got their money’s worth.

Goldschmidt has always been known for his power, and he really put that on display today. All three home runs were no-doubters. His second one was even crushed so hard that it went out of the stadium in left field. Goldschmidt shouldn’t be surprised if Rob Manfred and the MLB come knocking for a random drug test in the next few days.

Along with a fantastic performance today, Goldschmidt has had himself quite the season so far, batting .316 with 22 home runs and 79 RBIs.

The Diamondbacks have really put together a solid season and are exceeding expectations. They are 62-46, and even though they sit 13.5 games behind the Dodgers in the NL West, they are in first place in the Wild Card race.

After taking two of three from the Cubs, the Diamondbacks now have a tough stretch coming up. They face the struggling Giants, but then host the Dodgers, Cubs and Astros.

If this kind of play continues, the Diamondbacks could very well be back in the postseason for the first time since 2011.
