The Cristiano Ronaldo tax saga continues as striker hints at England return.

Just when Real Madrid fans thought they could exhale and relax, Cristiano Ronaldo drops a bomb.

Following weeks of exit speculation, the Portuguese forward remained silent on the issue, and it looked as if the rumors were just that.

However, Ronaldo spoke out in court about his showdown with Spanish authorities over his tax issues.

Ronaldo was accused of withholding tax money from the Spanish government, €14.7 million to be exact. Despite claiming he paid the taxes in full, the Real Madrid star feels as if he was treated unfairly. He then expressed his desire to return to England to the judge.

Manchester United fans believed their club would piece together a bid for Gareth Bale in the coming months. However, the Red Devils could swoop in for another Los Blancos star. Despite signing a new contract at the Santiago Bernabeu in 2016, the former Man United star could make a heroes return to Old Trafford. He would be joining the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Paul Pogba and Henrikh Mkhitaryan on the pitch and would reconnect with former manager Jose Mourinho.

However, Real Madrid would not sell for cheap. Despite being an insane amount of money, Neymar’s recent transfer to PSG has lifted the transfer market to a new level. Based on the asking price, Ronaldo would only be a reasonable option for a few select teams in England: Man United, Man City, Chelsea and Arsenal. He may be an option for clubs such as Liverpool or Spurs as well, but neither club has shown willingness to throw around that amount of money in the past.

Regardless, it is unlikely fans will be seeing the Ronaldo in a Los Blancos kit much longer. With the 32-year-old nearing the end of his career, a return to England would need to come soon.
