WWE took off down the road to SummerSlam at full speed this past weekend with shaping what The Biggest Party of the Summer is going to look like in a couple weeks. Here’s a look at this week’s WWE Superstar Power Rankings with SummerSlam just 16 days away.

You know, it’s weird when there’s not a pay-per-view to discuss for WWE each week. They have 57 shows on Sunday nights throughout the year and it’s a headache to keep up with all of them. I know there’s only 52 weeks in the year, but work with me here. You know what I’m saying.

Thankfully, WWE was the giving teacher that realized that her class’s subject is the most boring thing imaginable (cough, Math, cough) and decided to give us recess for the entire week. A Triple Threat match with Samoa Joe, Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns? John Cena vs. Shinsuke Nakamura for the No. 1 contendership on SmackDown Live? WWE’s biggest star facing one of the biggest stars in the history of Japanese wrestling? You’re too good to us sometimes, professional wrestling.

Reigns came out on top of what should’ve been RAW‘s main event of the night on Monday by pinning Joe, while Nakamura dropped Cena on his neck — and no, that’s not an exaggeration — and pinned The Champ in the middle of the ring for the right to face Jinder Mahal for the WWE Championship in Brooklyn.

We’re just a little over a couple weeks to go until WWE’s second-biggest show of the year and to be honest, this show might be as long as WrestleMania 33 was. There’s, like, 15 potential matches for the card and not all of them are going to be worth your time, which makes you wonder if WWE is trying to butter us up for another bad pay-per-view by giving us John Cena vs. Shinsuke freakin’ Nakamura on free television.

Anyway, let’s get into this week’s rankings, starting with one-half of one of those matches that could actually be good in Brooklyn.

(Disclaimer: The wrestlers chosen for this power rankings list only appear on Monday Night Raw or SmackDown Live, so that means no NXT/205Live specific stars are on this list.)
