Vasyl Lomachenko will defend his WBO junior lightweight world title against Miguel Marriaga on Saturday night. Here is how you can watch it.
With Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor ready to square off on Aug. 26, one of the fights flying under the radar will take place on Saturday night for the WBO junior lightweight championship of the world.
Vasyl Lomachenko will defend the title against top-10 ranked Manuel Marriaga. The event will take place at Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California.
Lomachenko will look to extend his winning streak to eight, while also extending his finishing streak to six in the bout. Lomachenko, a two-division champion, along with winning the WBO featherweight title in only his third professional fight, won the junior lightweight title with a 5th-round KO over Roman Martinez back in June 2016. Since winning the belt, Lomachenko has defended the title successfully against Nicholas Walters and Jason Sosa. With the bout airing on ESPN, more eyes will be focused on a fighter many consider to be one of the best in the world.
Marriaga will have the professional experience factor as he steps into the ring, with a record of 25-2, including 21 knockouts. Many consider Marriaga to be a showcase opponent for Lomachenko, especially considering he is coming off of a loss back in April to Oscar Valdez. Marriaga will be moving up to the 130-pound weight division for an opportunity to knock off one of boxing’s rising stars.
This will be the second big fight card to air on ESPN, with the first being the highly controversial victory for Jeremy Horn over Manny Pacquiao. In other words, the fight is on free television. Here is how you can watch Vasyl Lomachenko defending the WBO junior lightweight title against Miguel Marriaga.
