Martin Truex Jr. had enough fuel and outlasted the rest to win the 2017 I Love New York 355 at Watkins Glen International.

Road courses can be a giant game of cat and mouse. They also can be just one great big prayer for guys hoping they have enough fuel. On Sunday, the I Love New York 355 at Watkins Glen International was a little bit of both. Fortunately for Martin Truex Jr., he had just enough to cross the finish line.

As things were going into the final four laps, Brad Keselowski was forced to drop off because he had no fuel left. To make matters worse for him, he ended up driving through other pit stalls and virtually ended any chances he had.

That in turn put Ryan Blaney into the top spot. The young driver was aiming for his second win on the season, while Truex Jr. just lurked behind. As the young phenom dropped off and gave way, Truex Jr. took over and it became a chase.

He wasn’t necessarily pushing it to the extreme because of his own issues and ran a slow beginning to the final lap. Matt Kenseth tried his hardest to chase him down for his first win of the year, but Truex Jr. held on for his fourth win of the season and another fantastic finish.

Kyle Busch and Daniel Suarez had good days to start for Toyota. They each took stage wins and got important points. Now, only four races remain until the Chase. Things are getting tighter for those on the bubble. Who will make it?
