Bayley, the former RAW Women’s Champion, was booked against Alexa Bliss for a match in less than three weeks in Brooklyn at SummerSlam prior to her injury last week.

2017 hasn’t been kind to Bayley following the loss of her RAW Women’s Championship to Alexa Bliss at Payback. The past few weeks have provided a glimmer of hope for The Hugger and her fans, though. She became the No. 1 contender for the championship after a victory over Sasha Banks. Following the epic bout in Washington D.C., the same city where she first arrived on the main roster, she looked primed and ready for redemption against Little Miss Bliss at SummerSlam.

Cruelly, things haven’t gone according to plan. In her match against Nia Jax last week, Bayley looked to have suffered a shoulder injury. Speculation flew around, with some wondering if it was just part of the show or not. As it turned out, she did indeed injure her shoulder during the match with Jax.

Six days after the announcement by WWE, an update has been provided. Unfortunately for The Hugster and her fans, it’s a grim one.

Per WWE’s Twitter account, Bayley has a separated shoulder and is officially ruled out for SummerSlam.

"“There’s been a lot of speculation around Bayley, her future with the RAW Women’s Championship and SummerSlam. We told you guys that we would keep you updated on what was going on with that. We found out, after her evaluations this morning, that Bayley will not be at SummerSlam. She’s got a separated shoulder.”"

Rome added that Bayley is in attendance at RAW tonight and plans on addressing the WWE Universe. Also announced were two triple threat matches between the competitors of the RAW Women’s Division. The winners will face off next week for the right to face Bliss for the championship at SummerSlam.

A tough road lies ahead for Bayley after hitting a few bumps since her title defeat in her hometown. Hopefully, a speedy and healthy recovery occurs, and she can get back to pursuing the RAW Women’s Title soon.
