Romelu Lukaku scores for Manchester United as he cut Real Madrid’s lead in half.
After Real Madrid went up 2-0 on Isco’s strike, Romelu Lukaku pulled one back for the Red Devils in the 62nd minute of the Super Cup. His goal came mostly against the run of play as Madrid continued to control possession into the second half, but a goal is a goal.
After some nice buildup in the final third, new signing Nemanja Matic had a go from outside the box. A save from Keylor Navas led to the ball dribbling away from him and right to the feet of Lukaku. Calmly, Lukaku slotted the ball into the back of the net to cut the lead in half.

Right place and right time, Lukaku is showing United fans why the team spent so much to bring him in. A poacher’s goal, but it was still a cool finish from the Belgian international. Manchester United’s attack has looked more lively since the introduction of Marouane Fellaini of all people. But they have pressured much more following Real Madrid’s second goal, and they were rewarded for it.
United has turned the momentum of the match going into the final 20 minutes. Their midfield has started to play somewhat evenly with Real Madrid’s and the team has looked brighter as a result.

Cristiano Ronaldo has yet to appear, but there is still 15 minutes of play left. At the moment, United look the more likely side to score. Perhaps they can find and equalizer and send the match into extra-time. Look for Lukaku and Paul Pogba to be the saviors for United.
