Here are five reasons as to why LSU could be crowned champions in 2017

The 2016 season for the LSU Tigers saw longtime head coach Les Miles depart and defensive line coach Ed Orgeron took over as the interim coach. Orgeron managed to lead the Tigers to a bowl game and in the final game of the season, they defeated Louisville by a score of 29-9. The scorching finish has earned Orgeron the title of full-time head coach. Orgeron has pumped the intensity back into his program and players. The lovable Louisianan is transforming the traditional look of the LSU program into one that is all his own.

2017 will be a season of unknowns for the LSU Tigers. New head coach, new offensive coordinator, a new face of the program, etc. However, the Bayou Bengals remain hopeful about this season and the optimism in Baton Rouge is as high as it has been for a number of years. Despite not defeating Alabama since 2011, the Tigers are enthusiastic that they can roll into Tuscaloosa and de-throne the Tide. Furthermore, the Tigers will try and get back on the winning side of things against Florida following last year’s crushing defeat. Ultimately, both will need to happen for the Bayou Bengals to reach the title for the first time since 2011.

All eyes are on Orgeron and Heisman hopeful Derrius Guice. As the Tigers’ season opener against BYU draws closer, here’s why you should be optimistic about LSU’s title hopes in 2017. Below you will see five reasons for optimism for LSU this year as they contend for a national title.
