Will Michael Jordan join the BIG3 next year?

BIG3 Commissioner Roger Mason Jr. along with Ice Cube are looking to build on a tremendous first season with more star talent.

It may seem far fetched, but the BIG3 is looking to add star power and there is no bigger star in the galaxy than the greatest player of all-time Michael Jordan. Would Jordan consider coming out of retirement to play 3 on 3?

BIG3 commissioner Roger Mason Jr. has reached out to Jordan through his basketball channels.

“I haven’t spoken directly with Michael, but we have been in touch through mutual friends.” Mason Jr said.

Mason also has his eye on Kobe Bryant.

“You can only play this game for so long, even in the half court,” Mason stated. “Someone like Kobe, one of the greatest of all-time, has proven everything he can prove. It’s just about having fun for him. If he still has that itch next year, I think that we are the league for him because we can still bring that competitiveness out and he can still be a great, great player in our league.”

Even if Kobe and Jordan decide to stay retired, expect other big names of basketball years past to join.

“We think we are going to attract even more star players next year,” Mason Jr. hoped. “Early on there were probably questions how competitive this is? Is this a real league? I think all of those questions have been answered and our expectations are for more star power.”

The final week of the inaugural regular season is here with games in Los Angeles at the Staples Center. Mason Jr. has been extremely pleased with how the summer has gone.

“So far it has been great,” Mason Jr. said. “We wanted to measure this season not only by the basketball players and their experience, but also the fans and the way they could enjoy these games in person. I think we have delivered a great product and its only going to up from here.”

Fans have been both watching and attending in numbers larger than the BIG3 and experts predicted.

“Our ratings from a television standpoint are higher than anyone would have imagined,” Mason Jr. boasted. “There were some cities where people thought we would only sell a couple of thousand of tickets. We have had multiple cities where we sold over 15,000. I think we have over delivered.”

Allen Iverson is back this week after being suspended for not showing up in Dallas. Iverson has apologized and should be there the rest of the way.
