Tim Tebow is apparently a trooper, as he took a pitch to the head on Saturday night and ended up staying in the game afterwards.

Tim Tebow has had a somewhat impressive career in the minor leagues, but no home run or crazy catch can top the scary moment he had on the field on Saturday night.

Tebow stepped up to the plate for the St. Lucie Mets in what seemed like any other minor league game, but the result was far from normal for the outfielder. Fans are used to seeing Tebow clobber home runs or make diving catches out in the field, but they were in for a treat with this at-bat.

A pitch, coming from a left-hander to the left-handed Tebow, apparently got away from the pitcher on the mound and went right for Tebow’s head. The ball hit Tebow with enough force to knock his helmet off, and the sound of the ball bouncing off of Tebow’s face rang through the stadium.

The crowd matched pretty much anyone’s reaction who watched the video, with shock coming out of everyone’s mouth from the sound the pitch made.

For everyone who doubts Tebow hoping that pitch would maybe discourage him from stepping back out onto the diamond and ending his baseball career, this wasn’t enough to stop the Mets’ “prospect.” Fortunately for Tebow, the hit didn’t take him out of the game, as he came back out to the field after getting a pitch to the dome.

Tebow is running out of time to make a regular season debut for the Mets in the majors this season, with just a month left before September call-ups. However, maybe this display of serious guts and determination will be a nice stepping stone to a promotion at some point soon.
