The Indianapolis Colts may have to kick off their 2017 NFL season without star quarterback Andrew Luck under center in Week 1.

Andrew Luck was supposed to be ready in time for Week 1 of the 2017 NFL season, but it looks like that is no longer a certainty. Team owner Jim Irsay would not commit to Luck being ready for the team’s Week 1 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams. Luck had surgery on his injured right shoulder in January, and while the line all along would be that he would be ready, the team may have to start preparing Scott Tolzien.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers turned heads when they traded up to draft kicker Roberto Aguayo in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft. The pick has proven to be a bad one, as Aguayo kicked his way out of Tampa Bay with a rough showing in the team’s first preseason game. Tampa Bay waived him, and he was picked up the next day by the Chicago Bears, who feel the wind in Chicago may actually help him.

Another head-scratching 2016 second round pick was Christian Hackenberg, whom the New York Jets selected to be their future at the quarterback position. Hackenberg did not sniff the field during his rookie season, but he is getting the chance to earn the starting job this Summer. The second-year signal-caller looked good in his first significant action this weekend against the Tennessee Titans, completing 18 of 25 passes for 127 yards.

Marshawn Lynch opened up his Oakland Raiders career by making more headlines for his actions before the game, than during it. Despite the fact that Beast Mode did not play in the Raiders preseason opening loss to the Arizona Cardinals, he grabbed the spotlight by not standing for the national anthem. Lynch has been doing that his entire career, and it appears head coach Jack Del Rio is OK with it, so I guess it is just Marshawn being Marshawn.

Finally, the Buffalo Bills made a few moves this weekend that will give them some early round picks in the 2018 NFL Draft. First, they traded away Sammy Watkins for E.J. Gaines and a second round pick next April. Then, they picked up Jordan Matthews and a third round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft for Ronald Darby. The plan in Buffalo is a long-term one, and these added picks should certainly help in the future.
