The Ohio State Buckeyes are once again National Championship contenders. Here’s why they will walk away with the hardware this season.

So long as Urban Meyer is in charge of the Ohio State Buckeyes, the team is going to remain in the National Championship discussion every season. The Buckeyes have been in the College Football Playoff two out of the three years since it’s inception and have won a title to their credit.

In 2017, the Buckeyes will field a deeply talented roster in a conference that is going to have some heavyweights just as it does every year. The road to the College Football Playoff isn’t an easy one, but with two trips under their belts, the Buckeyes know exactly what they need to do to get there. Here’s why they could win a title this season.

5. Mike Weber ascends

Every great championship team for the Buckeyes has had a powerful running back that can carry the load. Ezekiel Elliott helped put the team on his back and carried them to a championship over the Oregon Ducks.

Mike Weber has made great strides at the running back spot for the Buckeyes and if he takes another, he’s going to be up for plenty of hardware. He’s a handful to stop as it is, but some growth in his game will only make Ohio State much more dangerous.

With a new faces in the receiving core, Weber is going to get plenty of carries this season as the passing game adjusts. If he becomes as dominant as he can be, then the Buckeyes will be the team to beat in the Big Ten.
