FanDuel daily WNBA fantasy picks: Friday, August 18
High Salary Forward
Sylvia Fowles – Minnesota Lynx ($8,400): Now I remember saying how well Sylvia Fowles would perform the last time Minnesota played Indiana when the two teams met a few weeks ago. Well, just how well did she do? Not too well. Fowles had only six points and eight boards against the Fever for a total of 14 fantasy points. Do I expect this to happen again? Absolutely not. In fact, this performance will more than likely be in the back of her mind and she will make up for it on Friday night.
Breanna Stewart – Seattle Storm ($8,300): Breanna Stewart has been having a good time against San Antonio this season. Over the Storm’s three meetings against the Stars this season, Stewart is averaging nearly 48 fantasy points per game. Seattle has won two straight since the departure of their former head coach, Jenny Boucek, and are fighting for a playoff spot. Interim head coach Gary Kloppenburg is now in charge and is focused on the team taking efficient shots, something Stewart is more than capable of doing. Expect Stewart to being playing at a higher level as we head towards the playoffs.
Brittney Griner – Phoenix Mercury ($8,300): Brittney Griner returned to the Mercury lineup on Saturday after missing eight games with a leg injury. Griner showed no signs of rust, scoring 19 points and pulling down seven boards. She also had three blocks and was completely dominant despite only playing 21 minutes. With a game under her belt, expect her to take on a normal workload against a Washington team that may still be without Elena Delle Donne.
Next: Every WNBA team, ranked by the altitude of its nickname
Candace Parker – Los Angeles Sparks ($8,300): Los Angeles is playing a Chicago team that isn’t very good. However, the Sky were able to pick up a win over the Sparks in July but don’t think that Candace Parker has forgotten about that. The reigning champs are also looking to make a statement heading towards the playoffs as they are still battling it out with Minnesota for the first seed. In a puzzling FanDuel price note, Parker’s price actually dropped since her last game against Washington, but who cares. Parker is capable of putting up anywhere from 40 to 50 fantasy points so if they want to drop her price, that’s ok, we will take it.
