Will Power overcame tremendous adversity to win the ABC Supply 500. Here are the complete race results from IndyCar at Pocono.

Will Power is back on top of the Verizon IndyCar Series and back in the championship hunt after the No. 12 Team Penske driver won Sunday’s ABC Supply 500 at Pocono Raceway.

Power looked to be a longshot early as he qualified mid-pack and had to pit off-sequence to deal with damage from contact. However, a late pit stop put him out in front of the field by some four seconds, and no one could catch him in the final stint.

IndyCar points leader, and Will Power’s teammate, Josef Newgarden did his best to rack up what would have been a third consecutive victory by hanging with Power through the last ten laps of the ABC Supply 500. Alexander Rossi, who led 44 laps for home team Andretti Autosport, had to settle for third.

But there were some remarkable stories deeper in the ABC Supply 500 field. Less than 24 hours after being in a hard qualifying wreck that sent him to the hospital for examination, Ryan Hunter-Reay scored a Top 10 finish at Pocono. And former championship leader Scott Dixon scored a very valuable sixth-place finish that allowed him to stay within striking distance of Josef Newgarden.

Yet Sunday belonged to Will Power, the 2014 series champion now back in contention for a second title by capturing a valuable 50 points in making it to Victory Lane.
