Shawn Michaels showed up on the SummerSlam Kickoff Show Sunday night and things got weird in a hurry

With the end of August here, it’s time for one of the biggest WWE events of the entire year, SummerSlam. This year’s event is taking place on Sunday night in Brooklyn at the Barclays Center, with the Kickoff Show getting started at 5 ET. Well, it has just recently ended, giving way to the main show everyone has been waiting for, and it ended with one weird appearance from Shawn Michaels.

Right before the Kickoff Show ended on Sunday night, WWE aired one of their commercials for KFC featuring various superstars. Immediately after the conclusion of the show, we heard the infamous music of Michaels and he entered the arena, much to the delight of the fans in attendance and those watching on the WWE Network.

And he entered dressed as Colonel Sanders.

Okay, then. Sure.

As you can see from the video above, Michaels danced in and out of the ring dressed as the Colonel in the latest advertisement for KFC within WWE, and quite frankly, it was a little weird after a while. It was funny at first when you noticed the costume that HBK was wearing, but then as the segment dragged along, you just got a weird feeling about the whole thing.

WWE has done some weird things in the past when it comes to working with their various sponsors, especially KFC. Yeah, remember that time we were all wondering what exactly Enzo Amore wanted to do with fried chicken? Yep, sometimes things get weird.

Nonetheless, that was really the lead-in to the 2017 SummerSlam event in Brooklyn and WWE really went out of their way to make sure that we never forget how this night started.
