Big man pick-and-rolls, DeMarcus Cousins
NEW ORLEANS, LA – FEBRUARY 23: Anthony Davis /

12. New Orleans Pelicans

The New Orleans Pelicans haven’t been very good since the departure of Chris Paul. They’ve got Anthony Davis, who was anointed as the next face of the NBA, but that hasn’t added up to wins on the court for the Pelicans.

There wasn’t much of a roster around Davis, until the Pelicans decided to go and trade for DeMarcus Cousins. It’s an interesting experiment, but as the NBA tries to move towards small-ball, the Pelicans shifted towards the twin-tower experiment.

Even with a second star, New Orleans couldn’t crack the playoffs last year in the Western Conference. The Cousins’ experience has had just six months in New Orleans, but I have a bad feeling it’s not going to work and cause the fans in the Big Easy far more suffering than happiness.

Their team may have Anthony Davis — but it’s not nearly enough to compete in the Western Conference with the likes of Golden State, San Antonio, Minnesota, or Houston.
