The Super NES Classic Edition went up for preorder at a variety of retailers on Tuesday. Unfortunately, Nintendo still hasn’t learned.

We hate to discuss our frustrations with Nintendo over and over again, but it seems the company does nothing to help change our minds. Don’t get us wrong, now. We absolutely love Nintendo for what the company is, and most importantly, the quality games it develops. However, there’s no denying it has a lot of faults. One of the most glaring ones is the lack of availability of its products. The most obvious example is the NES Classic Edition, which released last year, and to this day, millions still don’t have it. With the SNES Classic Edition set to hit next month, it seems Nintendo is going down the same road of disappointing fans once again.

On Tuesday, Nintendo released a nifty new trailer promoting the console. It’s all kinds of awesome, showcasing some of the games we’ll be able to play and some new features that come integrated in it. Then, shortly after, preorder options started popping up at several retailers like Best Buy and Walmart. We went through the same grueling and disappointing process. Somehow, we managed to get it in our cart and just when we’re about to check out, it’s no longer available.

There’s another instance where it does go through and you get your hopes up. Suddenly, it’s out of stock. It seems like Nintendo loves playing with our emotions and making us rage. You can also test your luck in-store, where GameStop said it had some preorders available. We tried that as well, but we’ll spare you the details. Even with its newest console, the Nintendo Switch, it’s still very hard to get your hands on one. Obviously, it isn’t as bad, but it’s a lot harder than it should be.

There’s absolutely no reason why consumers should be struggling with purchasing Nintendo products. At this point, Nintendo has no excuse, and we’re starting to think this is done on purpose. We understand if Nintendo is scared to pull the trigger and develop more units than it should. However, it’s a proven fact that fans want these products. Why not deliver on that to make everyone happy?

As of right now, we’ll give them the benefit of the doubt because it’s only the first day of preorders. Plus, the SNES Classic won’t be releasing for another month. But if the past is any indication of the future, prepare to be disappointed once again.

The point we’re trying to make is simple: Nintendo, get your act together.
