LeBron James gets fiery with jersey-burners on Twitter

Some confused Boston Celtics fans have been burning Isaiah Thomas’ old jersey, and LeBron James went on Twitter to chime in on the situation.

As we all know by now, former Cleveland Cavaliers star point guard Kyrie Irving expressed his desire to be traded from the Eastern Conference power house. It was a bit surprising considering how successful the team was, and oh yeah he was playing with the best basketball player in the world in LeBron James. Irving had his reasons though — he wanted to be able to lead a team on his own, and not play second fiddle to James anymore. So, the Cavs and the Boston Celtics completed a blockbuster deal a few days ago, that was highlighted by sending Irving to Boston, and All-Star point guard Isaiah Thomas heading to Cleveland.

Thomas did not request a trade, and was essentially moved against his will. However, many Celtics fans have been burning Thomas’ jersey calling him a “traitor” in the process. His new teammate has had enough of this, and James took his talents to twitter to express his opinion on the situation, in a series of five tweets:

James also defended new Celtics forward Gordon Hayward, who received a lot of criticism for leaving the Utah Jazz to go play for the Celtics. As we all know, James received a lot of criticism when he left the Cavs to join forces with the Heat, ultimately winning two championships there before he went back home to Cleveland. When it comes to having your jersey burned or a fanbase turn against you, LeBron is clearly an expert. He’s also absolutely right about how ridiculous it is to be directing this much vitriol at a player for changing teams (especially, like Thomas, when they don’t have any say in the matter).
