Wide receiver James Robinson and linebacker Ventrell Miller were the Gators cited for marijuana.

The Florida Gators are having a rough couple of weeks. First, they suspend seven players for the opening game against the Michigan Wolverines. Those players supposedly misused school-issued funds that were for specific use.

Now, one of the seven suspended players and another were cited with misdemeanor marijuana possession on Monday. First Coast News reported the news on Thursday.

The two players involved in the incident were wide receiver James Robinson and linebacker Ventrell Miller. They were caught when a residential attendant smelled marijuana and reported it to the University of Florida police.

Robinson has had issues in the past with marijuana, getting cited while on a recruiting visit to Ohio State in January. With star wide receiver Antonio Callaway missing the first game of the season, Robinson was looked at to step up and become a playmaker for the team and now that chance could be taken away.

Ventrell Miller is one of the seven Florida players that are already suspended and will miss the first game of the season. With this being another problem for him, his suspension could extend.

A team spokesman told Thomas Goldkamp of 247sports that head coach Jim McElwain “is aware and it has been dealt with.”

McElwain is trying to get his players ready for Michigan on September 2, but with players getting suspended and a quarterback issue that even McElwain doesn’t have answers to yet, it makes it harder for him to prepare for the game.

It’s also hard to prepare for a game when you don’t have the roster for the opposing team, as Jim Harbaugh is keeping his roster hidden until Aug. 30, three days before kickoff.
