The college football season is here, but Pac-12 Network still isn’t on DirecTV and we look at why that’s the case and if there’s a resolution in sight.

At long last, the college football season isn’t a distant idea and is about to get underway. There are many great storylines to watch around the country, as there always are. It should be an absolutely thrilling year in the sport in numerous conferences. However, there are going to be plenty of eyes on the Pac-12 this season.

People will be clamoring to watch the Pac-12. And with the Pac-12 Network airing so many games from the conference, that makes it a must-watch channel in the season. However, if you have DirecTV, that’s not a reality in your package.

Can you watch the Pac-12 Network on DirecTV?

Since the inception of Pac-12 Network some five years ago, DirecTV has chosen not to carry the channel in any form. Essentially every other major provider does, but not the biggest satellite company in the world. But why is that the case?

Really, it all comes down to money and logistics. According to a report from Awful Announcing, Pac-12 Network offered the same package to DirecTV that they did to every other provider. However, the satellite TV giant doesn’t think it’s worth the price to pay for the channel and its sub-channels for different regions in relation to how much it’d cost to create more bandwidth to add the networks.

What’s more, neither Pac-12 Network nor DirecTV has budged on their stances. Subsequently, this doesn’t look like it’s an issue that’s going to change anytime soon. What’s certain is that it won’t be changing in the 2017 college football season. And unfortunately, DirecTV subscribers aren’t really given an option of how to watch still that’s highly feasible by the Pac-12.

The network suggests either changing providers — a huge hassle — or signing up for Sling TV. The latter is the more realistic option, but it’s still another payment that you’d have to make for a television service. As such, you’ll either have to suck it up and miss out on the Pac-12 Network or find another way.

For those wishing to watch the Pac-12 Network, you can do so on FuboTV.
