Juan Dixon
G Maryland

Juan Dixon was certainly a joy to watch, as few matched his scoring prowess during his time with the Maryland Terrapins. Dixon could create his own shot at virtually anytime, and was a nightmare for defenders because they didn’t know how he was going to attack — breaking defenders down with his handles, or shooing the ball effectively no matter how contested his attempt was. He started off his college career slow, as some players do, but he quickly cemented his name into the record books the three seasons that ensued. Dixon averaged at least 18 points per game over his finally three collegiate seasons, including 20.4 points per game his senior season. Although most of the attention Dixon received was for his scoring ability, he was actually a decent rebounder as well. For a player who was only 6-foot-3 and less than 170 pounds, he was still able to find ways to consistently contribute four to five rebounds per game.

He was not much of a playmaker during his college days, which could have hindered his ability to be able to make a meaningful impact in today’s NBA. His size could be an issue on defense if he is forced to play shooting guard frequently, as he is bound to run into larger opponents who could utilize their size over him. However, Dixon’s 3-point shooting and aggressive mentality could pay dividends for him in today’s NBA. He was also a proven winner in college as he helped lead Maryland to a National Championship during his senior season.
