Week 0 of the college football season is in the books and Week 1 is officially underway. Let’s take a look at the updated recruiting rankings.

The 2017 college football season is finally underway and it’s time to start looking at the progressing 2018 recruiting class. The season’s “Week 0” is in the books and programs are looking forward to Week 1 and that means official visits are about to commence.

For most college football programs, the season is when recruits are truly won over. Official visits reel in the big fish and those uncommitted five-star prospects still looking for new homes will likely be taking trips to college campuses for big-time Saturday games.

There was a little movement in the recruiting rankings this week and we will take a look at who holds the nation’s top classes prior to Week 1.

First off, we will check out the 247Sports rankings for the top 10 teams.

  1. Ohio State: 17 commits
  2. Texas: 18 commits
  3. Penn State: 23 commits
  4. Miami: 19 commits
  5. Oregon: 22 commits
  6. Tennessee: 23 commits
  7. Florida:17 commits
  8. Notre Dame: 16 commits
  9. Oklahoma: 18 commits
  10. Florida State: 18 commits

Obviously, the glaring omission from the top 10 is Alabama. The Crimson Tide are currently ranked No. 28 overall with just 10 pledges, but you can sure expect that to change.

Ohio State remains the No. 1 team, unsurprisingly, and added four-star athlete L’Christian Smith on Sunday to bolster that ranking. Penn State is the other Big Ten program at No. 3 while Michigan is just outside the top 10.

Now, here are the ESPN rankings for the 2018 class.
