The Michigan Wolverines and Florida Gators will square off in a marquee matchup for Week 1 of college football, but how will things play out?

As if there wasn’t already a reason to be excited about the 2017 college football season, the schedule is serving up some tasty treats for fans to open the year. Obviously many people will be talking about Alabama-Florida State. However, the Michigan Wolverines and Florida Gators would like a word when talking about the game of the week.

Facing off in Arlington, TX in the vaunted AT&T Stadium, but Michigan and Florida have big hopes for the 2017 campaign. Michigan came within an overtime loss of making the College Football Playoff a year ago and looks to continue building under Jim Harbaugh. Meanwhile, Jim McElwain has been a consistent force out of the SEC East and doesn’t look to quit that just yet.

Admittedly, the safe bet would be to say that this game will be all about the defense. Florida’s offense in recent years has been nothing to write home about. Though they have hope with Feleipe Franks or Malik Zaire at quarterback, there are suspensions that could keep them from progressing there out of the gate. And while Michigan has more talent at skill positions, they were inconsistent at best on that side of the ball a year ago.

Still, this should be an enigmatic (and bright, if you’ve seen the uniforms) clash between two of college football’s elite. What could we see in this game? Let’s take a look at the full preview and predictions for the clash in Arlington.
