There are several storylines that emerge from this final positional ratings reveal.

First, the overall rating for the player at the top of this list could re-stoke the flames of debate that raged throughout the past regular season over whether he or his former Oklahoma City Thunder teammate Russell Westbrook is the more complete and impactful player. These ratings give the player featured here the edge, but it’s by the slightest of margins.

Sticking with the player at the top of this list, his overall rating is only bested by LeBron James’ 97 and Kevin Durant’s 96. This has to sting for Thunder fans, as the top-rated point guard, second-highest-rated small forward and top-rated shooting guard were all once teammates in Oklahoma City.

Finally, this final ratings reveal shows that the Golden State Warriors have a player rated in the top three of four of the five positional rankings. Their on-court success in real life has a lot to do with that, and gamers should expect much of the same in NBA 2k.

The new AI upgrades and graphics improvements will make all of these players look better, but they will only look their best in the hands of skilled gamers. The high ratings that these players carry into the new season will certainly help those gamers make the most of their in-game experiences.
