Terrell Owens says it’s a ‘joke’ he’s not on the field
By Jack Crosby
A lot of people want Terrell Owens in the Hall of Fame, but apparently he just wants to be on the field again.
There are a majority of football fans out there who were outraged once again this year that former NFL wide receiver Terrell Owens was once again not elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Owens is probably a little peeved himself, too, but apparently there’s something else weighing on his mind — that being the fact he feels he could still play the game to add to his career stats.
During an interview with Eric Dickerson on FOX Sports Radio, not only did Owens very much suggest that he could still play in today’s NFL, it’s a downright joke that he’s not out there trying to make defenders look foolish like he was accustomed to. (h/t Pro Football Talk for the transcription)
“Me not being on the field right now is a joke,” Owens said on Fox Sports Radio with Eric Dickerson. “I don’t care what people say. Even though I’m 43, trust me, I’m not your average 43-year-old.”
You can say all you want about Terrell Owens and his history, but for those who did follow him and his career, when he says that he’s not your average 43-year-old, he’s more than likely telling the truth. The man has always kept himself in incredible physical shape and he probably looks just as good as ever in retirement.
Now has he kept himself in NFL-type shape? That could only be determined if here were to step onto the field again which, admit it, would be pretty fun to watch.

During his career — with the San Francisco 49ers, Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys, Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals — the man affectionately known as T.O. amassed 15,934 yards on 1,078 catches with 153 touchdowns. Despite being one of the best receivers to grace the field of this generation, Owens has been kept away from the hallowed halls of Canton, presumably because of his attitude throughout his career (which is ludicrous, but that’s a different story for a different day).
