5. Aaron McKie, Philadelphia 76ers

Aaron McKie played in Philadelphia for eight seasons, primarily filling a reserve role during the Iverson era. In the 2000-01 season he won the Sixth Man of the year award as the 76ers went 56-26 and eventually advanced to the NBA Finals. McKie was never a great player, but he is a Philly guy through and through. He was born in Philadelphia and attended Temple University before eventually playing for the Sixers. These factors help his case for inclusion on the All-Time squad.

McKie’s case is dubious to begin with though. He doesn’t have many notable career accomplishments other than playing 31 minutes per game on the best team of the Iverson era. The 76ers have a lengthy, successful history to draw from in assembling an All-Time team and many players surpass McKie in terms of importance to the franchise.

Bobby Jones stands out as an especially interesting replacement candidate for McKie. Jones played in Philly for the same number of years and came off the bench for much of his time there, but he was a more effective and successful player than McKie. Jones made two All-Star Games, played in multiple NBA Finals and won the Sixth Man award on the legendary 1983 Sixers championship team.
