The Montreal Alouettes host the Ottawa Redblacks at Percival Molson Stadium on Thursday, Aug. 31. Here’s all the info you need to watch.
The second half of the CFL season gets underway on Thursday night when the Montreal Alouettes host the Ottawa Redblacks. With the Alouettes losing to Winnipeg in overtime, and Ottawa defeating BC last week, the standing in the East division have become much closer. Toronto leads the division with eight points, followed by Ottawa with seven and Montreal with 6. However, the Als have a game in hand on both Toronto and Ottawa. The Redblacks defeated the Alouettes 24-19 on July 19 and would win the season series with another win.
Thursday’s game is a clash of styles. The Alouettes are a strong defensive team that struggles with turnovers and scoring offensively. The opposite is true for Ottawa, the Redblacks are explosive offensively but are shaky on defense. While Ottawa quarterback Trevor Harris leads the league in passing yards and touchdowns. Montreal’s Darien Durant is sixth in passing yards but leads the league in interceptions.
After winning the Grey Cup last season with Ottawa, Ernest Jackson was signed by Montreal as a free agent. In two seasons with Ottawa, Jackson caught 172 passes for 2261 yards and 15 touchdowns. However, in his first season with the Alouettes, Jackson has had a disappointing start to the season. Jackson has 36 catches for 548 yards and four touchdowns.
