College football is all about the upsets, and on Saturday Howard pulled off one of the biggest ones in history

Week 1 of the college football season has pretty much come and gone, and with the first week of the college football season always comes some upsets that we don’t see coming. Well there was one upset on Saturday that not only did anyone see coming, but it was also one for the record books for the Howard Bison.

Howard, of the FCS, took on UNLV Saturday in what probably should have been a pretty easy win for the Rebels. Heck, Las Vegas even thought it would be a pretty easy outing for them, as the points spread was set at +45 for Howard. With a spread like that, you’re basically telling everyone that the game is not winnable whatsoever for the underdogs.

Yeah, well this is college football we’re talking about, where anything is possible. Howard was able to come away with the win, defeating UNLV 43-40 on Saturday.

The win, coupled with the +45 spread made this win one for the history books, as it will now be recognized as the biggest point spread upset in the history of the great game of college football.

If you were willing to lay down $100 on Howard, then you won a lot of money on Saturday — A LOT of money.

I was never a mathematical genius or anything, but I’m fairly certain that turning $100 into $71,500 is pretty good. Just a hunch.

This is a Howard program that just two years ago lost 76-0 to Boston College, and we all know that the Eagles haven’t been known as an offensive juggernaut the past few seasons, so you could just begin to see why this all seems pretty implausible. But it did happen, and if anyone out there was willing to throw down $100 on the Bison then they’re sitting pretty at the moment, to say the least.
