Josef Newgarden is barely atop the Verizon IndyCar Series standings after the Grand Prix at the Glen. Here’s the updated points after Watkins Glen.

Josef Newgarden retained his Verizon IndyCar Series points lead after Sunday’s Grand Prix at the Glen, but not by much. Following a pit lane accident at Watkins Glen, Newgarden has just a three-point advantage in the updated IndyCar championship standings.

That’s because four-time champion Scott Dixon finished second in Sunday’s race, gaining valuable ground on Newgarden as the IndyCar championship will again be decided at Sonoma. That’s the same track where Dixon stole the 2015 IndyCar title away from Newgarden’s predecessor Juan Pablo Montoya on a tiebreaker.

Also firming up their positions in the title hunt were Team Penske teammate Helio Castroneves, Will Power and Simon Pagenaud, who all came home within the Top 10 this weekend. With double points on offer for the Grand Prix of Sonoma plus bonus points available, Alexander Rossi’s win at Watkins Glen keeps him mathematically eligible for the title, as is Graham Rahal.

But really, the updated IndyCar standings are telling us what we’ve been talking about all season long—that the 2017 IndyCar championship is a battle between Penske and Scott Dixon. It’s Josef Newgarden who is still your leader, but now his margin for error is next to nothing, and that means it’s all to play for in two weeks.

Below are the updated Verizon IndyCar Series standings heading into the final race of the season, with the drivers still mathematically eligible for the championship in bold:

1 – Josef Newgarden – 560 pts
2 – Scott Dixon – 557 pts
3 – Helio Castroneves – 538 pts
4 – Simon Pagenaud – 526 pts
5 – Will Power – 492 pts
6 – Alexander Rossi – 476 pts
7 – Graham Rahal – 466 pts
8 – Takuma Sato – 421 pts
9 – Tony Kanaan – 375 pts
10 – Ryan Hunter-Reay – 373 pts
11 – James Hinchcliffe – 360 pts
12 – Max Chilton – 360 pts
13 – Marco Andretti – 336 pts
14 – Ed Jones – 332 pts
15 – JR Hildebrand – 315 pts
16 – Carlos Munoz – 298 pts
